Short answer
Relay Rewards is Amazon's rewards program for approved Relay carriers, and its Rewards post says it's US only. Everyone starts in the Basic tier, and tiers update on the 5th of each month. Benefits include promotional bonuses and discounts.
What is Amazon Relay Rewards?
It's open to Relay carriers "of every size," per Amazon's Relay Rewards post, which says it "recognizes approved carriers for consistently meeting Amazon's high standards for safety, trust, and performance."
"All new carriers start in the Basic tier." Amazon doesn't publish the names of the tiers above Basic or what it takes to reach each one. It says full details are in the official Relay Rewards documentation in the carrier portal.
How does Amazon decide your Relay Rewards tier?
Your tier is "evaluated and updated on the 5th of every month." Amazon's example: October's performance sets your tier and benefits for November.
Three things count:
- Performance score. "Your Rewards tier is calculated using your company's lowest score from the previous month." So one low score during the month can hold your tier down, even if the rest of the month was strong. Our scorecard guide explains how the score works.
- Engagement. Total miles driven last month, with thresholds based on your number of verified drivers.
- Tenure. How long your company has been on Relay.
If you drop a tier, "you won't lose any deals and discounts you've already enrolled in." You do have to requalify for higher-tier benefits.
What benefits come with Relay Rewards?
Amazon lists five:
- Promotional bonuses on select loads during limited-time promotions for certain regions, load types and dates. Amazon says bonus amounts increase with each tier and are "generally paid out within three weeks after the promotion ends."
- Deals and discounts at Amazon's negotiated rates on fuel, insurance, truck rentals, tires, maintenance and more.
- Booking offers. "We'll offer certain loads exclusively to our highest-tier carriers."
- Dedicated office hours with "priority assistance from Amazon Relay's support team."
- Amazon swag as you move up.
Amazon doesn't publish bonus amounts or which loads count as booking offers.
What discounts can Relay carriers get?
Amazon's discounts page groups them into fuel and insurance, equipment and lending, safety tech, tire and maintenance, parking and tolls, carrier administration, and growth and education.
Who qualifies: "Discounts and preferred pricing are only available to active Amazon Relay carriers and are subject to program policies." Each partner sets its own terms, so read them before you sign up.
Discounts change your cost per mile, so rerun your numbers after you enroll. Our free Relay load calculator shows a load's net and net per loaded mile from its pay and miles.
Amazon's Lendistry loan referral is covered in Amazon Relay factoring and quick pay.
Is there an Amazon Relay fuel card?
Yes, through Comdata. Amazon's Comdata post describes "discounts at 4600+ Comdata locations across the United States" with "Comdata's fuel card," and calls it "our fuel card program." Amazon applies the discount at the time of the transaction.
Fuel on the load itself is a separate matter. Spot loads are priced all-in, with fuel surcharge included. Our Amazon Relay payments guide covers how pay is built.
What are Relay safety rewards?
A separate, opt-in program for collision-free miles. Amazon's safety rewards post says it's for "approved carriers that have hauled at least one Relay load in the previous 12 months." You enroll from the Relay Rewards page in your account.
You need a dash cam from Motive, Netradyne, Samsara or Verizon Connect. If you don't have one, "Every verified truck in your account qualifies for a free dash cam."
Amazon's program terms list these per-mile bonus rates:
| Collision-free miles in the year | Bonus per mile (Amazon's terms) |
|---|---|
| First 50,000 | $0.02 |
| 50,001 to 200,000 | $0.03 |
| 200,001 to 300,000 | $0.04 |
| 300,001 to 400,000 | $0.05 |
One line on the same page says "1 to 4 cents extra per mile," which doesn't match the tier list. The tier list and the discounts page both say $0.02 to $0.05.
The rules that matter most:
- "If your company experiences a severe collision event, your mileage count will reset."
- Rewards are capped at 400,000 miles in one calendar year.
- Amazon gives the 12,000-mile minimum two ways. One line lists "at least 12,000 miles hauled per year" as a program requirement. Its footnote ties the 12,000 miles to carriers that got dash cam support through the program.
- The collision data "won't affect your Relay performance score."
- If you leave the program after getting a dash cam, "you may owe back some of the dash cam setup cost."
Is Relay Rewards available in Canada?
Amazon's pages point two ways. The Relay Rewards post says "This program is currently available only in the United States." But the relay.amazon.ca home page lists "Rewards and Discounts" with "Early access to loads and discounts on fuel, tires, maintenance, and more," without details. Our Amazon Relay Canada guide covers what the Canadian site says.
What doesn't Amazon publish about Relay Rewards?
- Tier names above Basic, and the thresholds for each
- Promotional bonus amounts
- Which loads count as booking offers
- Each partner's full contract terms
Where does NudoIQ fit?
NudoIQ isn't part of Relay Rewards and isn't affiliated with Amazon. It's a Chrome extension for the Relay load board that shows net and net per mile under the price on every load card, from costs you set once. If a fuel discount lowers your costs, update them and every card shows the new net. It's free for 7 days with no card needed to start, then $49.99 a month.
