Short answer
To haul on Amazon Relay Canada you need an active NSC number, plus a DOT number with interstate authority and a valid MC number for cross-border work. Amazon says applications are approved or rejected within 2 to 4 business days.
Is Amazon Relay available in Canada?
Yes. Amazon runs a Canadian Relay site at relay.amazon.ca. The US site points there with a banner: "Looking for Amazon Relay Canada? Go to relay.amazon.ca." Amazon's Conditions of Use page says use of Relay in Canada is governed by the Conditions of Use (Canada).
Most of this page comes from the relay.amazon.ca home page, which carries Amazon's Canada FAQ. Where we compare with the US or mention Relay Rewards, we cite Amazon's US pages and say so. A separate FAQ page on relay.amazon.ca asked for an Amazon sign-in when we checked on October 14, 2026, so we couldn't read it.
What do you need to haul for Amazon Relay in Canada?
Your authority depends on where you run:
- Within Canada: "an Active NSC number."
- Cross-border: "An active NSC number, DOT number with interstate authority, and a valid MC number."
The Canada page also lists a "Carrier" entity type that is authorized for property and for hire, and an FMCSA safety rating of Satisfactory, None or Not Rated. The US rules are in our Amazon Relay requirements guide.
What insurance does Amazon Relay Canada require?
The Canada page says "All Requirements in CAD." Most limits use the same figures as the US. Cargo doesn't.
| Coverage | Canada (CAD) | US (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial general liability | $1,000,000 per occurrence, $2,000,000 aggregate | $1,000,000 per occurrence, $2,000,000 aggregate |
| Auto liability | $1,000,000 per occurrence, with $50,000 trailer replacement | $1,000,000 per occurrence, with $50,000 trailer replacement |
| Cargo | At least $150,000 | At least $100,000 |
| Workers' compensation | All jurisdictions where you operate | All jurisdictions where you operate |
| Employer liability | $100,000 per occurrence | $100,000 per occurrence |
The US column comes from Amazon's US Relay FAQ. The figures match, but the currencies differ.
Operating in Quebec adds one more step. The page says CNESST registration "is also required if your company operates in Quebec." Our insurance requirements guide explains each US coverage in more detail.
How long does Amazon Relay Canada approval take?
Days, not weeks. The Canada page says "your application will be approved or rejected within 2-4 business days." Like the US, it says any delay is due to validating insurance information. Amazon urges you to have all data ready before you apply.
Then: "Once approved, you will immediately be able to book loads from our load board." You also get access to the Relay portal's FAQs and operating guides.
For comparison, Amazon's US FAQ says 1 to 3 weeks.
What equipment and loads are on Amazon Relay Canada?
The Canada page lists:
- Tractor: day cab, box truck and sleeper cab
- Trailers: 53' dry van and 26' box truck
The Relay load board lets you "View and book spot work for dry vans and box trucks, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." With Post A Truck, you share "when and where your trucks are available for up to two weeks in advance," and Relay matches you with loads that meet your origin, destination and rate.
The Canada page lists no reefer or intermodal equipment. That doesn't prove they're absent. Amazon just doesn't say.
How do pay and support work in Canada?
The same way as the US, per the Canada page:
- Pay: "Payment cycle runs weekly from Sunday-Saturday." Everything completed before 23:59 Saturday is paid the following Friday.
- Invoices: Relay generates them automatically in the portal.
- Pay problems: submit a payment dispute in the portal within 30 days of reviewing your weekly invoice.
- Load problems: the Relay Operations Center gives 24/7 support, reached "through the Relay portal or Relay mobile."
The Canada page gives no phone number.
What does Amazon expect from Canadian carriers?
The Canada page lists "Compliance with safety, NSC, DOT, MC and insurance requirements," on-time delivery, consistent tender acceptance, and running loads on Relay technology. It adds: "All carriers and drivers are required to use our Amazon Relay products for all Amazon loads."
Your performance shows on a scorecard in the Relay portal. The full expectations sit in the Carrier Terms of Service and Program Policies, which you see when you onboard.
Does Relay Rewards apply in Canada?
Amazon's pages point two ways. The Canada home page lists "Rewards and Discounts" with "Early access to loads and discounts on fuel, tires, maintenance, and more." But Amazon's Relay Rewards post says that program "is currently available only in the United States."
Amazon doesn't publish which discounts, if any, Canadian carriers get. Ask Relay once you're onboarded.
How do you sign up for Amazon Relay Canada?
Start on relay.amazon.ca with Get started. Have these ready first:
- Your active NSC number, plus your DOT and MC numbers if you'll run cross-border
- Insurance certificates that meet the CAD limits above
- CNESST registration if you operate in Quebec
Before your first booking, check what a load would leave you after costs. Our free Relay load calculator does that from a load's pay and distance.
What doesn't Amazon publish for Canada?
- A Canadian phone number
- Whether reefer or intermodal loads run in Canada
- How much of the work is cross-border
- Which provinces are served
- Which discounts Canadian carriers get
- Whether support is offered in French
Where does NudoIQ fit?
NudoIQ is an independent Chrome extension for the Amazon Relay load board, not affiliated with Amazon. On the US board at relay.amazon.com, it shows net and net per mile under the price on every load card, from costs you set once, and Lane Intelligence (the first button under a load) shows a lane's price history. It's also set up to load on relay.amazon.ca, but our guides and screenshots show only the US board, so we make no feature claims for the Canadian site. It's free for 7 days with no card needed to start, then $49.99 a month.
